For Immediate Release, July 15, 2008
Regina filmmaker Brian Stockton will make his fifth appearance at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, with the world premiere of his new short film, Whitmore Park (The Epic Story of My Life Part 4), produced by Tobi Lampard. The film is a continuation of Stockton's autobiographical series of short films, the first three of which were the highly acclaimed Saskatchewan Trilogy.
Whitmore Park was shot in and around the south Regina neighbourhood of the same name, and features Kieran Kennedy as 'Grade Four Brian' and Melanie Schnell as 'The Teacher.' Whimsical nostalgia abounds as Stockton recounts the odd, funny stories of a young life in the suburbs. Like others in the series, the film itself is a unique mix of documentary, drama and animation, all presented in the visual feast of 35mm cinemascope.
Screening times will be released by The Toronto International Film Festival on August 19th.
